Transportation Assistance
A person with a disability may require assistance not only at home but in all outdoor activities. In view of this requirement, assistant can be provided to ensure that the participant can carry on his or her activities in a more or less independent manner and is not confined to limited space within the home or even outdoors.
Transportation Assistance covers the person’s needs not only at home but in all outdoor activities. This may begin with the skills of managing the transport. This type of support relates to the assistance of our clients in getting from one location to another, where through our trained staff, we can transport them, for example, to and from their home to either their place of work or to appointments.
Support in these skills includes training to use public transport or personal transport-related assistance. We ensure that not only is our participant able to get from one point to another but also help to build their capacity to travel independently. This type of support is based on the participant’s disability support needs, for example:
- Assistance in independent movement
- Low mobility due to wheelchair
- Specific requirements for travel
Our experienced and trained staff can assist, guide and train them to be independent for the travel with the necessary safety precautions.
On a general note, there are three basic levels of transport assistance for participants.
We provide special funding every year for people who are not working, studying, or taking the day programs but look forward to being equipped.
We provide extra funding for those working right now or those who study half the time and participate in day programs and various recreational activities.
We provide higher funds for those currently working or studying but cannot use public transport due to their disability.
